This policy explains how Chapter Fashion collects and uses your personal information when you visit our website or buy from us, and the rights you have under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

Who we are

Information we collect

  • Order information: your name, delivery and billing address, email address, telephone number and the items you buy.
  • Payment information: payments are processed by our payment providers. We do not see or store your full card details.
  • Account information: if you create an account, your login details and order history.
  • Communications: messages you send us by email, telephone or our contact form.
  • Newsletter: your email address, if you sign up to our mailing list.
  • Device and usage information: information collected automatically, such as your IP address, browser type and pages viewed, through cookies and similar technologies (see our Cookie policy).

How we use your information, and our legal basis

  • To process and deliver your order, handle returns and provide customer service: necessary to perform our contract with you.
  • To send you marketing emails: only with your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
  • To keep our website secure, prevent fraud and improve our service: our legitimate interests.
  • To keep records for tax and accounting: to comply with our legal obligations.

Who we share your information with

We share personal information only where needed to run our business, with:

  • Shopify, which hosts our online store and processes orders.
  • Payment providers, including Shopify Payments and PayPal, to take payment securely.
  • Our supplier and delivery companies, to fulfil and deliver your order.
  • Google, which provides Google Analytics. If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics collects information about how you use our website, such as pages viewed and the device you use, which helps us improve it.
  • Professional advisers and authorities, where required by law.

Some of these providers may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, we rely on the safeguards required by UK data protection law, such as adequacy regulations or approved contractual clauses.

We do not sell your personal information.

How long we keep your information

We keep order and transaction records for as long as HMRC requires for tax purposes (currently at least five years after the 31 January Self Assessment deadline for the relevant tax year). We keep newsletter details until you unsubscribe, and other information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above.

Your rights

You have the right to request access to your personal information, and to ask us to correct, erase or restrict it, to object to how we use it, and to request a copy in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To make a request, email support@chapterfashion.shop. We will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. We would appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
